2006 ✦ Manila, Philippines ✦ Women-Led ✦ 1st Pin-Up Lingerie Shop PH
My love for 40s and 50s vintage fashion didn't come from a mood board — it came from my grandmother's bedroom. I grew up in a 50s bungalow house, with a fashionista lola who had the most incredible collection of pin-up style shoes, dresses, and fashion magazines. As a little girl, I would lock myself in her room for hours, completely lost in her world.

Bettie Page — Queen of Pin-up
That early immersion led me to Bettie Page — the Queen of Pin-up — and a lifelong love affair with the vintage lifestyle. So when the time came to name the store, it felt natural to reach back into that world. I was flipping through a vintage magazine when I came across a Lucky Strike print ad. Something about it clicked. I borrowed "Lucky" from the ad, and paired it with "Doll" — 1950s slang for an attractive, confident woman. And just like that, Lucky Doll® was born.

If you'd told me at 22, fresh out of Fine Arts that I'd be running a lingerie shop, I would have laughed. I was too busy chasing hobbies and avoiding anything that looked like a career plan. I wasn't ambitious in the traditional sense, I just knew with absolute certainty that a 9-to-5 job isn't something that I'd be doing. My plan was simple: play music, make art, find a way to fund the stuff I love doing then figure the rest out later.
In 2004, I got curious about the e-commerce wave I was seeing in the US and decided to run a little experiment: I listed a second-hand wallet on eBay Philippines. It sold in under two days. That was the moment I knew something was shifting and I wanted to be part of it and possibly work at home in pajamas.
"There is nothing more humiliating than a saleswoman sizing you up and down and announcing your measurements to the entire department store."— Ella Lim, Founder
That frustration became the spark. In 2006, I launched Lucky Doll on Multiply and eBay, a discreet, judgment-free space where Filipino women could shop for lingerie without embarrassment, without pressure, and without a stranger announcing their bra size to a crowded store floor. Over the years, what started as an escape from office life grew into something with a much deeper purpose: a safe space for women to shop without fear of being judged or shamed. A place that empowers women of all sizes, promotes self-love, and encourages every woman to own her beauty and confidence.
What started as bras, panties, and swimwear grew into something I never could have predicted. My customers kept asking for more, and I kept listening. Today, Lucky Doll is the Philippines' first pin-up and burlesque specialty lingerie boutique, and a full intimate wellness destination. I'm proud of every step it took to get here, and I'm so glad you found us.
Step into our boudoir. See, touch, and try on our collection in person — in a private, relaxed space with no pushy salespeople. Our team is here to assist you, never to pressure you.
"I believe lingerie should be a celebration of your body — not an attempt to conceal or conform it. Every woman deserves to feel confident, sexy, and unapologetically herself, whatever her size or shape. That's why I built this place. And that's why I'm still here."— Ella Lim, Founder of Lucky Doll Lingerie
