Why Lucky Doll Lingerie No Longer Carry School Girl Costume Outfits

At Lucky Doll, our journey has always been about celebrating confidence, empowerment, and healthy intimacy for women and couples. We’ve curated our collections with the intent of providing a safe space for adults to express themselves freely.

However, as we grow and learn, we recognize the importance of reevaluating our practices to align with deeper values. One such realization has been the impact of school girl costumes—a product we once carried without much thought, but which we have since decided to remove from our store.

A Hard Truth We Had to Face

When we initially included school girl costumes in our offerings, we did so with the belief that it was a harmless, playful option for adult roleplay. After all, they were among the most popular costumes in the market. We thought, "What’s the harm in letting adults relive innocent high school crushes or teenage flirtation through fantasy?"

But as we took a closer look, a lightbulb moment occurred: Why is a school girl costume considered sexy in the first place? When stripped of justifications and euphemisms, it became painfully clear that the very premise of these costumes romanticizes the image of a child.

Challenging the "It’s Just Fantasy" Argument

A common defense of school girl costumes is that they’re "just a fantasy," often tied to nostalgic memories of teenage crushes or high school romance. While we understand where this perspective comes from, we believe it’s crucial to ask a difficult question: Where do we draw the line?

When adults engage in such fantasies, it may seem innocent at first glance. However, the broader implications cannot be ignored. By framing the imagery of a school girl as "sexy", society risks reinforcing the harmful and deeply ingrained normalization of children’s sexualization. It’s a slippery slope that can blur boundaries and perpetuate unhealthy attitudes toward age and consent.

The Normalization of Harm

What makes this issue even more unsettling is how normalized these costumes have become. They’re widely marketed and celebrated as playful, without much regard for the underlying message. This normalization desensitizes us to the troubling reality that such products contribute to a culture where the lines between adulthood and childhood are dangerously blurred.

As a brand, we’ve come to realize that supporting these norms, even inadvertently, is incompatible with our commitment to fostering healthy, consensual, and ethical expressions of intimacy. Removing school girl costumes from our collection 5 years ago was our way of saying, "Enough."

Moving Forward with Responsibility

At Lucky Doll, we embrace the freedom of adults to explore their desires in a way that feels right for them. We believe in celebrating all kinds of healthy, consensual sexual practices that empower individuals and couples. But we also believe in drawing clear ethical boundaries. Supporting fantasies or practices that even remotely perpetuate the sexualization of minors is a line we refuse to cross.

A Call to Reflect

As we move forward, we invite others to reflect on these questions with us:

  • Why has society normalized certain harmful narratives?
  • What role do we play in perpetuating them, knowingly or unknowingly?
  • And most importantly, where do we draw the line to protect and uplift what is healthy, ethical, and empowering?

It’s not just about costumes. It’s about creating a culture that respects boundaries and values consent, while still celebrating the beauty of adult connection and imagination. Thank you for supporting Lucky Doll as we continue to stand by our principles and create a space for positive, meaningful change.
