How to Choose the Right Swimsuit for Your Body Type
Every body is a beach body — the secret is knowing which swimsuit style works with your shape. Here's our guide to finding the most flattering swimwear for women of all body types:
Swimsuit for Big Tummy
If you carry weight around your midsection, look for swimsuits with ruching, draping, or built-in tummy control panels. These details draw the eye away from the tummy and create a smooth, streamlined silhouette.
Swimsuit for Chubby & Curvy Women
Curvy and plus-size women look stunning in swimwear that provides support and celebrates their shape. Look for underwire bikini tops, high-waisted bottoms, and one pieces with cutouts that highlight the waist.
Swimsuit for Wider Hips
Balance wider hips by drawing attention upward. A push-up bikini top or a brightly coloured top with a darker bottom creates a beautiful proportional balance. High waist bottoms also elongate the silhouette.
Swimsuit for Small / Petite Frame
Petite women look amazing in swimwear with vertical details, V-necklines, and high-cut legs that create the illusion of length. Avoid overly large prints — small to medium prints are more proportional.
Swimsuit for Athletic Build
If you have a straighter figure, swimwear with ruffles, frills, cut-outs, or bold prints adds curves and dimension. A swimsuit dress or tankini with a belted waist also creates shape beautifully.
Swimsuit for Hourglass Figure
Lucky you — almost any swimsuit style flatters an hourglass figure! Enhance your natural curves with a push-up bikini or a cinched one-piece. High waist bottoms accentuate a small waist beautifully.
How to Care for Your Swimsuit
To keep your swimwear looking its best season after season, always rinse your bathing suit in cold fresh water immediately after swimming — especially after exposure to chlorine, saltwater, or sunscreen, which can degrade the fabric over time. Hand wash gently with mild soap or a swimsuit-specific cleanser; never put swimwear in a washing machine or dryer. Wring gently (never twist) and lay flat to dry in the shade — direct sunlight causes colours to fade and elastic fibres to break down. Store your swimming suit flat or loosely folded, never rolled up tight while wet. With proper care, a quality swimsuit can last multiple seasons of Philippine beach and pool adventures.
Your swimsuit questions, answered
Bikini — A classic two piece swimsuit with a separate top and bottom. Offers the least coverage and maximum sun exposure. Comes in endless styles including push-up bikinis and high-waisted bikinis.
Tankini — Also a two-piece, but the top is a longer tank-style that covers the midsection. A tankini is ideal for women who want more coverage than a bikini without wearing a full one-piece — easy to put on and take off while still offering a relaxed, flattering fit.
Monokini — Technically a one piece swimsuit but with strategic cutouts at the sides, back, or front for a bold, fashion-forward look. It gives the appearance of a two-piece while remaining one connected piece — perfect for making a statement at the beach.
